Mark Harris – Founding Partner |
Key Focus: For the benefit of all clients, provides business development skills. Functionally oversees international services, custom publishing, print and paper procurement. Client relations services with various NPS clients and manages key vendor relationships.
Experience: Has extensive marketing, distribution, new title launch, acquisition and
contract negotiation experience. Prior to NPS, held various executive and management positions at the New York Times Magazine Group and Curtis Circulation Company.
Bob McIlwain – Founding Partner |
Key Focus: Manages day-to-day business finance activities and is involved in strategic planning initiatives.
Experience: Oversaw NPS interests in Ultimate Sports Publishing, a line of preseason sports publications, and Daytrotter.com, an online independent music website. Before NPS, was COO of Preview Publishing, where he had previously held the positions of Circulation Director and Sales Director.
David Goodman – Partner |
Key Focus: Manages print orders and serves as day-to-day liaison with National Distributors’ account executives and traffic departments.
Also has role of primary legal counsel.
Experience: Prior to joining NPS in 1996, was an attorney at a Newark, N.J. law firm where his responsibilities included NPS legal matters and other business projects.
Jim Smolen – Partner |
Key Focus: Manages relationships on behalf of NPS clients with Mass Market Retailers and Mass Market Wholesalers in the US and Canada.
Experience: Over the course of a 30-year career, has held key management positions within all three newsstand sectors - publisher, national distributor, and wholesaler. Prior to joining NPS, was Group Director - Single Copy Sales for G+J USA Publishing Company. Has also held key management positions with the Chas. Levy Circulating Company, a top US magazine wholesaler, as well as other wholesalers and national distributors.
Ron Murray – Partner |
Key Focus: Manages relationships on behalf of NPS clients with Specialty Market Retailers and Specialty Market Wholesalers.
Experience: Has extensive experience in sales and marketing including areas such as formulating trade programs, cover analysis, channel development, product development and new title launches. During his career he was instrumental in establishing book & magazine programs with retailers such as General Nutrition Centers (GNC) and Home Depot. Prior to joining NPS in 2005 he was with the Meredith Corporation for over 15 years as the Executive Director of Retail Sales. During his tenure at Meredith he was instrumental in developing checkout programs, opening up new channels of distribution and launching numerous new products leading to retail sales growth from $67 million to over $200 million.
Dennis Knisley – Partner |
Key Focus: Works with Publishers to realize and benefit from opportunities in vendor contracts/agreements, distribution, sales, production, marketingand R&D for magazines and other products.
Experience: Over 30 years with Anderson News, LLC, including sales and marketing, operations, systems, internal process and new product development as Director of Corporate Magazine Purchasing. While at Anderson News, he organized and managed the Corporate Purchasing Department, working with all Publishers to expand and grow sales for existing publications while developing many new publications.
Jared Katzman – Partner |
Key Focus: Works with publishers to increase their distribution and create revenue generation opportunities in digital publishing. Areas of focus include mobile, digital editions, custom digital publishing, eReader devices, social media and online newsstands.
Experience: Has extensive experience in direct response marketing for consumer magazines as well as new business development in print publishing. On the digital side, he most recently was principle of a digital publishing consulting business overseeing sales and marketing strategy for all vendors and client services for publishers. Prior to his consulting experience, he was Director of Account Management at Zinio, LLC.
